Network Infrastructure & CCTV Installation – UK Travel Plaza, Pennsylvania

CloudSwitch successfully completed a comprehensive network infrastructure and CCTV installation project for UK Travel Plaza in Pennsylvania. Our scope of work included structured cabling, deployment of enterprise-grade network switches, configuration of wireless access points, and integration of IP-based CCTV surveillance systems. The solution was designed to enhance operational efficiency, ensure high-speed connectivity, and provide 24/7 security coverage across the facility. The project was delivered on schedule, adhering to the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and safety.

1. Install CAT6/CAT6A Ethernet Cabling

  • Install CAT6/CAT6A Ethernet cabling throughout the premises for all network endpoints.
  • Terminate and label all data drops at patch panels and wall plates.
  • Mount network jacks at all workstation locations, front counter, POS terminals, and back office.
  • Provide cable testing and certification to ensure compliance with TIA/EIA standards.

1.1 Network Rack and Equipment Setup

  • Supply and install a wall-mounted or freestanding network rack.
  • Mount patch panels, switches, power strip, and necessary cable management components.
  • Install uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for core networking equipment.

1.2 Network Switches and Connectivity

  • Install and configure managed PoE switches to support both network and camera systems.
  • Connect and test all network devices including workstations, POS systems, printers, and wireless access points.
  • Configure VLANs as required for device segmentation (POS, Office, Cameras, Guest Wi-Fi).

1.3 Wireless Access Points

  • Install commercial-grade wireless access points to provide reliable Wi-Fi coverage across public and staff areas.
  • Configure secure SSIDs for staff and guest access with appropriate encryption and bandwidth controls.

1.4 Network Configuration

  • Configure the main router/firewall with appropriate DHCP, DNS, port forwarding, and security rules.
  • Set up remote VPN access for secure off-site monitoring and support.
  • Perform end-to-end network testing and provide documentation of IP schemes and credentials.

2. CCTV Placement and Mounting

  • Perform site assessment to determine optimal camera locations covering:
  • Main entrance and exits
  • Fuel pump area
  • Parking lot
  • Cash register and sales counters
  • Store aisles and storage rooms
  • Employee-only and back-office areas
  • Mount weather-resistant IP cameras outdoors and vandal-proof dome cameras indoors.

2.1 Cabling and Power

  • Run CAT6 cabling for all cameras to central NVR location.
  • Utilize PoE from network switches or PoE injectors to power all cameras.

2.2 Network Video Recorder (NVR) Setup

  • Install and configure NVR with adequate storage for at least 30 days of video retention.
  • Set up motion detection, alerts, and video backup protocols.
  • Connect monitor for on-site viewing and configure remote access for authorized personnel.

2.4 Testing and Commissioning

  • Verify live video feed from each camera.
  • Perform quality checks for clarity, coverage, and night vision performance.
  • Provide user training on video playback, export, and monitoring tools.
